Wang Jian, born in May 1954 in Wuxi County, Jiangsu Province (now Xishan District), joined the army in December 1970, was a military calligrapher, and transferred to local work in October 1989. Influenced by the school teacher, he entered the calligraphy field in his youth. After work, he was obsessed with calligraphy, never stopped, never wanted to be heard in the world, but wanted to improve his calligraphy. In 1986, he was recommended by the Ministry of Culture of Jinan Military Region to join Shandong Calligraphers Association. He is now a member of Jiangsu Calligrapher's Association, the Wuxi Calligrapher's Association (former executive director), and the executive chairman of Xishan District Calligrapher's Association of Wuxi.
The calligraphy style of Wang Jian's calligraphy is mainly regular script and cursive script, and also Wei Zhuan and Li script. Learning regular script in Tang Dynasty first and then in Europe, has laid a solid foundation in regular script; The running script mainly learns from Wang, and also learns from Wen Zhengming, Mi Fu, Zhao Mengfu. It draws on famous steles and calligraphies such as Zheng Wengong's Lower Stele and Shimen Song; Xiao Cao learns from Er Wang, Sun Guoting, Wang Duo, and Da Cao learns from Huai Su, Zhang Xu, Huang Tingjian, etc. In terms of style, it pursues the texture of lines and the change and contrast of pen and ink, the aesthetic effect of both refined and popular tastes, and the vigorous and free and easy artistic taste. Over the past 50 years, I have participated in countless book exhibitions at all levels. I will not repeat them here one by one. I am not good at calligraphy, and I am willing to ask my colleagues for advice.
